"Aw come on guys it was just a joke." Loki yelled over his shoulder as he bounded along, sliding slightly when his paws would break through the snow and hit a patch of ice. "How was I to know that those berries would change the color of ol' Rotgut's pelt forever?" He busted out laughing at the thought of how the mangy Alpha of his pack, well now it seemed former pack, looked when he realized that his fur would never be it's beautiful light brown color again. Instead of being the color of a fiery summer sunset it was now the color of the insides of a squashed caterpillar. The proud and furious male had washed himself three times in the icy winter waters near the pack's lands but all those chilly baths did was make the color darker and more grotesque looking. Of course Loki had found it all the more funny but it had been decided that such a thing had to be punished. After all this had just been the latest in a long line of pranks; there was the trip line he had placed near the water hole, the piles of mud (well he told them it was mud at first but further investigation proved otherwise) dropped on unsuspecting heads, and the live frogs in everyone's dens were just a few of his most recent attempts at raising his former pack mates disposition.
Loki continued running away from whatever punishment, besides obvious banishment, the pack had in store for him. A mint sprig hung from his muzzle like a flag in the breeze as he dashed this way and that while bounding through the snow. They were close on his paws when he came to the bridge. The mostly white male stopped and stared at it for a moment before he thought he could almost feel the hot breath of his pursuers' on the back of his neck. Without another thought he dashed over it and slid to a stop when a tree appeared as if out of nowhere. Cautiously he turned to see the others and saw them on the other side of the bridge. Their tails were tucked low and their ears were held back. They were scared, of what Loki had no clue, and soon they turned tail and ran.
"What is that for? All that running and not one nip? You bunch of whelps, go back to Sour muzzle and tell him I wouldn't be in his pack if he begged me." He hollered back with a triumphant smile on his face though he was slightly out o breath. He was almost disappointed there hadn't been more of a tussle though and set off to see what he could find in this new land.
